Malaysian Super League Top 5 local stars

GOMO KELATE GOMO!

Khairul Fahmi|Kelantan | Goalkeeper
A steady hands in Kelantan’s last line of defence. Khairul Fahmi makes up for his lack of height with superb agility and lighting fast reflexes.

A goalkeeper that exudes composure, Khairul almost always comes out tops to cut out crosses and rarely gets beaten in the air. With him between the sticks, Kelantan have conceded the least amount of goals in the Super League. ‘Apek’ will only get better in time to come and the future looks great for this Kelantan custodian.
S.Subramaniam|Kelantan | Defender

Even though Subra missed out in patches of Kelantan’s fantastic current campaign, the 27 year old centre-back is always rock solid whenever he plays.

A robust defender with eyes only for the ball, Subra never backs away from a challenge and is always willing to put in the extra yard for his team.

Subra didn’t hide his disappointment after being hauled in the FA Cup final against Sime Darby, a testament of his commitment and endearment to the Red Warriors.
Badri Radhi| Kelantan | Midfielder

The creative link in Kelantan‘s engine room. Badri has formed a great partnership with Nurul Azwan in midfield, and is the main man to ignite Kelantan’s attacks from midfield.

A nifty player that is comfortable on either foot, Badri’s delivery from set-pieces have been exceptional to say the least.

Somewhat similar to Frank Lampard of Chelsea, Badri is also a menace to defenders with his late runs into the box which often results in goals for Kelantan.

Safiq Rahim|Selangor | Midfielder

Safiq is one of the few players who can stand tall in Selangor’s mediocre campaign to date. A leader by nature, Safiq cuts an authoritative player on the pitch urging his troops to buck up should they be found wanting.

Besides that, his vision and passing range have been exemplary and he has been the main source of goals for Croatian striker Bosko Balaban.

Safiq is most dangerous when he is given time to deliver the perfect final ball, but he is also mercurial from outside the box and has struck four goals from the 25 yard zone.

Shakir Ali | Negeri Sembilan | Striker

Shakir Ali is one of the deadliest hitman in the Malaysian League to date. The 23 year old has struck up a great partnership with Cameroon striker and together the pair have found the net 13 times.

But Shakir’s overall work ethic and intelligent play has been sensational, for that he has six goals to his name. The nifty forward often drops deep to collect possession, and when he has the ball within goal sight Negeri always look like scoring.

Shakir is also gifted with both feet and can shoot from anywhere within the danger zone. If this lad continues playing like this he can pip the likes of Forkey Doe and Shahril Ishak to the Golden Boot award.

Honourable mentions:

Ashri Chuchu (Midfielder/Sarawak)
Shahurain Abu Samah (Midfielder/Negeri Sembilan)
Joseph Kallang Tie (Midfielder/Terengganu)
K. Gurusamy (Midfielder/Selangor)
